Education – time to get out of the classroom
Honeybourne has a wealth of experience working within the Education sector and has enjoyed great relationships with the schools. We try to give something back to the schools, that can be a fun activity but also at the same time be educational.
We have recently undertaken Rugby coaching at a number of schools which is being received with a huge amount of enthusiasm by the children. The photographs are of Rugby Coaching at St Paul’s Girls School, Birmingham
When work has been completed at a school we like to go back and run a workshop for the children. Give them an insight into the construction industry and what it is that Honeybourne is doing at their school. We undertook a workshop at Gosford Park Primary school in Coventry. The workshop was based on the story of the 3 little pigs, where the children ended up building structures made out of twigs, straw and bricks. This is a huge amount of fun but such a great learning experience for Year 1 children.
We have helped with enrichment days and recently attended the St Paul’s Year 7 enrichment day. Again, this was bringing their attention to life within the construction industry, what careers are available etc. This was a great day with the finale of a bridge being constructed out of paper, string and sellotape that had to pass the strength test.
Sponsorship – working within the community
Honeybourne are proud to be associated with the House of Lords. We have recently joined forces with the House of Lords Rugby team (Commons & Lords) assisting them with sponsorship. They do a vast amount of work for childrens charities, getting children into sport. We are hosting a rugby match at local club Veseyans on Sunday 3rd September, the Veseyans old boys will be playing against the House of Lords. This will be a great family day out and cements our relationship with the House of Lords.
Honeybourne sponsor local school Arthur Terry on a Greenpower project. A number of students are given the opportunity to design, build and race a formula 24 racing car. It’s great to work with young students who will learn invaluable skills which they will be able to take with after they leave school. The car has already taken part in 2 races.
Corporate Partnership – working with local businesses
Honeybourne have recently become a member of the Bishop Vesey Grammar Corporate partnership platform. This is a forward thinking initiative where partners can work together to build a brighter future and also support the students. Honeybourne exhibited at the recent Bishop Vesey Jobs fair, it was a fantastic opportunity to meet other members of the partnership and the students to discuss careers.
